About Bob Bardwell.
Bob was injured in 1973 in a heavy construction accident leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. With determination and perseverance and his faith in God he chose to become a victor rather than a victim. He always says, “Pain, sorrow and disappointment is inevitable, but misery is optional”
Bob and his wife Jode have four grown daughters, three of them are triplets. As you look at Bob’s accomplishments, honors, awards, motivational speaking and sports, you will see they are miracles that have happened and continue to happen in his life.
Motivational Speaking:
Since 1990 Bob has been sharing his inspirational message to audiences across the country. The title of his presentations are called, “It’s not what happens to you, it’s what you do about it”, the Marathons of Life, and The Culture of Safety.
Recent speaking opportunities:
Corporate: Chick-fil-A Headquarters, Touchstone Energy, Citi-Corp, UPS, IBM, Salvation Army
Conferences: Mayo Clinic National Disability Conference, Sanibel Island Men’s Conference
Faith: National Day of Prayer in Washington DC speaking to 300 military personnel, Churches all over the country
Accomplishments:
Founded a non-profit called Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch. Ironwoodsprings.com
Ironwood is home of the National Wheelchair Sports Camp, the largest in the nation.
Established Operation Welcome Home at Ironwood, which provides free weekend retreats for military families.
Bob was the general contractor/fundraiser of a 5 million dollar lodge called “The Miracle Lodge” at Ironwood.
Took 100 wheelchairs to Ghana, West Africa resulting in Ghana taking their first ever team to the Paralympics.

2017: Grand prize winner of Touchstone Energy Cooperative's #WhoPowersYou Contest. Touchstone Energy Cooperatives started #WhoPowersYou in 2016 to honor people making a powerful impact on their communities.
2010 – Won the Major League Baseball and People magazine ALL STARS AMONG US award and received national recognition at the All Star game in Anaheim, CA.
Honored with a trip to Washington DC invited by the George W. Bush foundation representing the State of Minnesota
Won the national award given by the Daughters of the American Revolution for Ironwood serving military families and spoke at the 119th Continental Congress in Washington DC.
Rochester Sports Commission Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sports
Completed 100 marathons including 5 Boston marathons.
2006 inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK.
Chaplain for University of Minnesota wrestling team.
Avid hunter and ultralight pilot.
Have played most sports excluding kickball (Ha).
